EVP's (Electronic Voice Phenomenon" - Let's hear from everyone

Thank you all for your submissions to our Octoberfest! 

EVP's ......wow the collection of these that we have is incredible! (Our audio recordings)  For those that are not familiar with them I invite you to put on some headphones and head over to our YouTube Channel.

EVP's generally fall into 3 classes.  Class A, meaning you can hear what it says crystal clear.  Class B, may not be as clear, and Class C generally meaning you have to clean up the audio to hear it.

Over the years, the class A EVP's for us have been abundant.  (Both by analog and digital).  Some has credited to as a psychic, we are only going into what I deem as haunted or worth an investigation.  I never really gave a whole lot of thought about this until recently.

We have gone through the course of changes from analog, to digital, to voice recorders on cell phones.  Honestly, looking at all three, I am beginning to have questions, that I will disclose on a later date.

Right now I want to open up a discussion on this:

Do you feel that EVP's are a conclusive that a location is haunted or has paranormal activity?  Why or why not?

A haunted motel.....Liverpool, California

 A little back story before I begin. My mother was a motel manager for many years. From the time I was 11-17 years, I grew up in a house, connected to the front office. I've been around many deaths unfortunately in this kind of work. 

When I was young I didn't notice anything weird or strange about the home. Until,  I was a teenager and that all changed. One day an older women, who escaped the nursing home, and who was a heavy alcohol checked in. She would never leave the room, just sit in the chair, and drink all day an night. On weekends I had to clean the rooms. I was about 15 I think at the time. She would never leave the chair or say a word. Just sit and stare. 

My mother's job was 24/7, no breaks, no days off, except for two weeks a year for vacation. My mom didn't feel good about leaving this time and didn't think the owners would check on her. She was right. When we returned, she sadly had passed away, and this is where my ghost story begins. My mom first started complaining about phantom knocks, the cabinets opening an closing shut, and or someone moving around in the attic above. I didn't hear the noises, but started feeling as if I was being watched in my room, and just felt this sense of unease. I never felt like that in all of the years there. But, the atmosphere just felt weird. Mt sister and I shared a room. The room had a hallway leading out to the rest of the house. One night my sister woke up to her blanket being pulled off of her. She looked and saw me. She started to yell at me, she said I turned around, and started walking down the hall. She followed only to see me disappear. She then turned on the lights, only to find me asleep in my bed. The next night, as I slept, I woke up freezing, and saw that my blanket was across the room. I remembered my sisters story, so I peeked out of my eye, and saw a glowing women peeking around the corner in the hallway at me. I froze and pretend I was asleep. I eventually passed out and decided not to speak on it out of fear I would look crazy. 

My mother the next day told us about what happened to her the night before. She said while laying in her bed, someone started knocking on her beds headboard,  she freaked out, and went to the kitchen to find cabinets opening and closing. And what sounded like someone walking in the attic. After that I told everyone about my experience. After that we always slept with the light on.until I moved at 17 I always felt someone staring at me. But,  never did I see her again. I always wondered if it was room 122. The older women who passed while we were away.

Many years later we started to watch the motel. As a favor to the owners. One day they asked my mom to spend the night. Still scared from our past experience she opted to sleep on the couch. At night,  in my old room she heard papers being thrown around. She didn't check it out of fear. The next day she found the room empty,  only with a few boxes, and a fridge. 

Also while living there, we had a worker come stay, and would sometimes bring his son. The father explained his son was gifted and could see spirits. He would have to check our every room before committing to a room he deemed safe. He said he would see many ghosts. It still gives me the chills thinking of it.

Here are a few photos of some of this year's Halloween projects. 

I've been doing this work for 30 years and have designed and built haunted houses for Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens as well as Indie attractions.

I've been designing for EPS foam technology for 20 years but now own my own machine. 

I start by cutting basic shapes from a computer Vector files and then can hand sculpt beyond that. Currently looking for Christmas work particularly parade float work.

Local Ghost Story

 My favourite story is when Jackie and her crew came to my house in Chester to set up paranormal being different things were happening in the home. You could smell someone smoking, my hand had my grandmother's perfume on it who had been deceased

People walking and chairs moving. So as Jackie had monitors set up, my son said this is BS there are no ghost here. And says out loud. If there are spirits here, open and close a door. Omg. I never seen a kid run out the house so fast as the basement door opened and slammed shut.

Then one of the paranormal people went into the basement and he's talking in general and then he said let's just tear this house down well that was the wrong choice of words. He came flying up the steps like he had seen a ghost and told us what he had said. A person appeared before him and said Fu(k youuuu. Ryan was so shook up. I got a picture of my uncle and said was this him. He turned white as a ghost and said yes.

So many of my family has passed in that house and then I bought it from the family estate and I totally loved hearing the souls d the smells. Then this last January my ex who was my best friend passed at the hospital at 7:09 pm.

That night my kids and I go back to the house and my oldest yells out MOM , I go running in the kitchen and he points at the Pindling clock that only my ex touched. He said to never touch his clock and we didn't But on that clock was the time of 7:09. And I knew he was still with us in spirit. And since that day we have not changed the clock or wound the clock up.

 A little advanced heads up.....

For those that follow my podcast "When Spirit Speaks Podcast" (also located on the homepage of http://JackieTomlin.com) Season 7 will air next Wednesday September 25th, 2024.  This will be focused on your sign for the month of October.

Spring 2024

 Hello and happy spring everyone!

It has been a LONG time, too long, since you have seen me on this blog.  It looks like I will have to work on that!

OUR NEW WEBSITE WENT LIVE YESTERDAY!  I'm actually pleased with the new website.  It is very user friendly so if you run into a problem, please let me know!   

Next I HAVE TERMINATED ALL EMAIL ADDRESSES!  (The spam over the years superseded ridiculous!) The email to use for now is JTomlin360@gmail.com.  Now I would say this is a temporary thing, but for other reasons, I know this will stay in place at least through the end of 2024.

Now, I want to address some of your questions....

First, yes it is true, that we NO LONGER disclose ANY of our investigations.  With the TV Hype that got out of hand very quickly.  Next, about team members, also non-disclosed, outside of my daughter.  Finally, what are we up too?  We do have a new project in the works, this will take several months and we will update as progress is made.

However, I can say going full NON DISCLOSURE  was the best decision we ever made!

We have been out there since 2008 now, and there are several new things in the paranormal field that we find to be disappointing.  Stick around I will publish more on that later.

Right now, enjoy the new website, and I look forward to hearing from you!

New Book "Twist of Events"

Happy New Year!  I know it has been awhile since we have posted here, but the year has started out busy.  As I type this I still have emails to catch up on.

I know I had spoke with some of you on a book that I was writing and it is indeed out.  Twist of Events is a fiction, thriller with paranormal activity.  Although it features a bride on the cover it is NOT a paranormal romance.  This is more about a group of ghost hunters and the location, with a few twists along the way.  (Hence the title!)

Currently it is available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle.  (More to come soon!)  The sequel is well underway, with a detour of another publication prior to the sequel coming out.  You can read Chapter One here.

Negative haunts.....they are a "Process"

This blog has been a long time coming, so I ask that you read it closely.

In all of the requests that we receive on negative haunts, I want everyone to know that there is a process to it without any clear-cut answers.

First of all, a paranormal investigation is not the solution to your problem.  Nor can anyone come in and “Banish” something from your home.

In actuality I would have to say that a paranormal investigation and a house blessing are only about 20% of it.  (In case you did not know, both WILL make things worse in the beginning!)

The other 80% lies within you….the haunted and/or the haunted family.

The first part is your willingness to recognize what has drawn this into you. 

The second part is going to be your faith.  Not that I want to preach to you, but adding religious items such as crosses, bibles and praying when your really not sure what you believe in….it’s not going to work.  Now this is just my opinion but ask yourself this…. How can you believe in something evil, but yet not believe in something good?

The third part is stop giving it recognition.  (Easier said then done.)  Do not speak of it AT ALL.  This means do not text, call or email about it.  Just STOP mentioning it.  Even if an item moves in front of you, say nothing and go on about your day.  (Remember, “Where thoughts go, energy flows.”)  I do however recommend clergy counseling outside of the location during this process.

The fourth part is taking a unified front as a family.  (This is extremely important.)  Even if someone is having no experiences, they will need to participate with their support.  (Even if one is affected, it can escalate to affect everyone if it is not properly addressed.) Generally it will target one person more then the others.  Remember this, although rare…. obsession can lead to possession.  That control is up to you.

I have seen too much from credible families with credible psychiatric evaluations to know that these things DO happen.  The answer lies in their willingness to beat it.

I can say that in the majority of these cases, most have had paranormal experiences at a different location as well as a ouja board has been used at some point in time.

In a different scenario, it is also possible that you have moved into a negative location.  (It happens.)  My question to you is …. Why are you staying?  Because you like the place?  Because your savings are invested there?  If this is the case then ask yourself this….is it worth causing mental and/or physical harm to your family?  Is it worth risking your children?  Is it worth tearing up your marriage?

With that said, make sure it is just that….the location and not a family member.  Because if it is a family member and not the location, then moving is not the answer.  It will only follow you.

In either case there are certain things you SHOULD NOT DO.

1. Consult a ouja board.  (Although by Parker Brothers, it is a source of divination, and an opening to both sides.)
2. Bring in a psychic or medium.  (And YES I am a psychic!  They will often stir you to believe it’s a human presence by mistake.)
3. Hold a séance.
4. Smudge.  (It will be effective on noisy locations, not on the negative.)
5. Run EVP’s (No, no, no! ) (A demonic can take on many forms in order to earn your trust.)
6. Bring in a paranormal team with no experience in the negative.  (It will make things worse and leave you hanging as well as putting people at risk.)
7. Running a salt circle.  (You can seal it in.)

In a nutshell….a paranormal investigation is NOT the answer to your problem.  (And in most cases, you may have to leave home afterwards.)

A paranormal team, clergy and demonologist….is NOT the answer to your problem.  They are just the beginning steps into getting your problem resolved.

You can view this whole process like someone trying to loose weight.  You didn’t gain it overnight and your not going to loose it overnight.   The same with the negative, it didn’t just happen overnight and it’s going to take your dedication and loyalty in order to beat it.

What if all of this doesn’t work?  Then it’s you that is giving up.  No one else can fix it for you.  It’s a battle, and you have to keep going…

I could provide you with a full list of signs of a negative haunt.  However, if your living it, then you already know it.  If you question whether or not it is negative, chances are it may be in the beginning stages or just an aggressive haunt.  Either way, be mindful of how you handle it!

We have seen too many of these legitimate cases to know that they do exist.  However, we have also seen these families follow this process with SUCCESS.  (Some take months and some take years.)  The majority of them remain in their homes today.  So do you choose fear or living?  Because living in fear should NEVER be an option!

Demonic Cases

When we first started CVAPI back in 2008, a demonic case would come in about 1 in every 20 cases.  Nowadays, it appears that 80% of our investigation requests are demonic cases.

If this applies to you, you do not need a paranormal team or a paranormal investigation.  From what we have seen you know what is there, and so do we.  You need clergy and/or a demonologist.  We do not clear, or banish anything from locations.

In 95% of demonic cases, someone in the home has done something to draw this in to them.  We have found that these families will start seeking help when they or someone close to them has been attacked.  YES, they can attack someone in your home as well as someone close to you.  It can also effect your attitude as well as effect you emotionally and physically.

Having your home blessed and buying religious items is not going to "Fix" a demonic haunt.  80% of fixing the problem is going to lie with you or the person that has drawn it in.  (A united front as a family helps!)  But the first thing that HAS to happen is to stop communicating with it and STOP giving it recognition.  (Both are feeding it and giving it strength.)  Don't even discuss it, do not run EVP's, and do not "enjoy" any paranormal activity that it creates.  Moving is not the answer, as it will generally follow you.

Often it appears that people are seeking an investigation because they may feel that we do not believe them.  We do believe you.  As crazy as your report may sound, we HAVE heard it before and have had these cases.  An investigation is only going to amp things up and NOT solve your problem.

Even with family members being attacked, it is common that this family will still give it recognition.  They are not possessed (That is a rarity) but they become "Obsessed" with it.  I can tell you that once you have reached this point....things will only get worse.

It is a long drawn out process.   You can compare this to someone who is trying to loose weight.  They didn't gain the weight overnight, nor will they loose it overnight.  It is a process that takes time, and takes you addressing the problem each day. You have to make "Lifestyle changes" for weight loose, you have to do the same with a demonic haunt. I have seen success from people overcoming these haunts by following the lead of clergy and/or a demonologist.

You should never have to pay for an investigation, house blessing etc.  However, if you are seeking to have someone come in from out of state you CAN expect to pay for their travel expenses and stay.  (I don't know of anyone that is independently wealthy enough to fly around the country for free.)

How many "Demonic" investigations requests are we getting?  As of today a whooping 17 request for the calendar year of 2014.  Why?  Has the Universe changed?  Or perhaps it is television....  CVAPI does NOT want to be known as a team that specializes in demonic haunts.

What we CAN do....
We can point you in the direction of clergy and/or a demonologist.  IF at that point they would like us to perform an investigation, then arrangements will be made.

Follow up to investigations.

Over the span of two weeks, it has been bought to my attention that there are several local paranormal teams that are not following up with their clients.  (4 teams to be exact.)

No matter how busy CVAPI may be, we ALWAYS provide a written report as well as a copy of anything that we found or may have questioned.  We take a lot of pride in the fact that not only did the client contact us, but they opened up to us and shared their stories as well as allowing us in to their location.

To the paranormal teams out there that are not following through, I am more than disappointed.  In my opinion this makes you a "Thrill Seeker", not a "Paranormal Investigator". (There is a difference!) And generally it leaves another paranormal team to clean up your mess for sake of keeping the paranormal investigators in a positive light as a whole.

CVAPI has waited many years to see another team establish the same ethics as us, in putting the client FIRST.  With that said, we would like to give a "Welcome" and a "Shout out" to Historic Paranormal Research.   It has been really nice to have another local team to collaborate with.

To those with a paranormal concern, neither CVAPI or HPR will ever leave you hanging!  In the event, you cannot reach us, or cannot accommodate our waiting list, this is a team we would recommend.
